Citrus Heights Residents Record Memories of Living in Town in Special Project

The following is a press release from the city of Citrus Heights:

In May of 2013 the History and Arts Commission of the City of Citrus Heights sponsored an Oral History Project.

Residents of Citrus Heights participated in the recording of their memories and recollections of living in Citrus Heights - the people, events, organizations and neighborhoods. The Students of the Art Institute of California conducted and recorded interviews of long time Citrus Heights residents. The interviews have been preserved in the City's archives and made available for your enjoyment. The interviews are available for your viewing, click here

In every community - in families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools, there are people who have knowledge to share, different ways of knowing and doing that often come from years of experience and have been preserved and passed down from generations. Through documenting their memories and stories, the past comes to life and the present is filled with vivid images of people, places, and events.

Your stories and the stories of the people around you are unique, valuable treasures for your family and your community. The stories tell and the cultural traditions preserve.

The History and Arts Commission encourages the public to participate in the preservation of our history and cultural arts programs and always welcomes new ideas. If you have information to share, please call 916/725-2448 or email historyandarts@citrusheights.net.
