Last Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event Set for Oct. 19

Bring your unwanted household hazardous waste items to the City's final drop-off event in Citrus Heights.

Citrus Heights residents can get rid of unwanted paints, household cleaners, batteries and other hazardous waste items during the last drop-off event set for Saturday, Oct. 19 at Sunrise Mall.

According to the City, here’s what’s accepted and not:

  • Automotive fluids
  • Acids
  • Household and auto batteries
  • Pesticides
  • Used motor oil
  • Gasoline
  • Home-generated needles and syringes (must be in an approved sharps container)
  • Household cleaners
  • Paints
  • Solvents
  • Fluorescent lamps and tubes

What items are not accepted?

  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Radioactive material
  • Pharmaceuticals

This free program is limited to Citrus Heights residents serviced by Republic Services (formerly Allied Waste).
