6-Year-Old Dies Months After Being Hit by Impaired Driver

Henry Perez-Rocha of Citrus Heights was hit while walking to school Oct. 5. He died Jan. 16.

A 6-year-old boy who was hit while walking to school Oct. 5 in Citrus Heights, has died, the Sacramento Bee reports.

Henry Perez-Rocha was walking with his brother, 8-year-old Juan Perez-Rocha, and his mother Oct. 5 when 52-year-old Teresa Bales-Sterba hit the boys. The incident left Henry in critical condition and on life support, the Perez brothers’ aunt, Candace Perez, told Citrus Heights Patch.

The Bee reports that Henry died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16.

Shortly after the crash, the community came together to support the family. At least two car washes were held to help raise money for the Perez family in October.

Bales-Sterba was allegedly under the influence of multiple drugs at the time of the accident.
