Citrus Heights Truck Driver Narrowly Escaped Flaming Big Rig

A Citrus Heights truck driver was seriously injured Saturday morning according to the Daily Democrat, reporting 24 year old, Ajdin Pjanic's vehicle caught fire just off the Yolo Bypass.

CHP told the Daily Democrat, Pjanic was traveling southbound Interstate 5 on the Yolo Bypass when he observed a light on his dash illuminate indicating an electrical fault, so he stopped, restarted the vehicle and the light turned off. Before he could make it back onto the freeway, smoke begin emitting from the dash; a fire then started near the speedometer. As the fire grew, he was unable to immediately open the door, making a narrow escape before the truck became fully enflamed.

The Daily Democrat reported, CHP did not specify the nature of Pjanic's injuries but indicated they were major.
