Man, 4 Dogs Displaced in Carmichael Fire

No one was injured in the Wednesday fire.

The following is a news release from the Sacramento Metro Fire District: 


At approximately 2:26 [Wednesday] afternoon, Metro Fire crews responded to a house fire in the 8600 block of Winding Way in the Carmichael area. 

When crews arrived they found heavy black smoke coming from the single story modular home.  Crews immediately entered the home to search out, and begin attacking the fire.  Meanwhile, other crews searched the home to make sure all of the occupants were safe. The single male occupant and his 4 dogs have been displaced by the fire but thankfully no one was injured.

Twenty-four firefighters engaged in fire attack.  Due to quick actions of these firefighters, there were much of the home owners personal contents were saved. It is estimated that the loss was around $150.000 however, through the firefighters efforts they saved most of the personal belongs, estimated to be $75.000.

Fortunately there were no injuries to either the occupants or firefighter’s in the blaze.  The occupant indicated to firefighters that he had been cooking and forgot about it and was not in the home at the time the fire started.

 

Metro Fire’s, Fire Investigation Unit was called to the scene to look at the origin and cause of the fire.

 

Metro Fire wants to convey that it is never a good idea to leave food cooking unattended.  It only takes a few seconds for a fire to ignite and cause serious damage.
