A parent-teen traffic safety workshop will be held this evening at the Citrus Heights Community Center. The workshop, hosted by the Citrus Heights Police Department, will provide education on driver safety, rules of the road, distracted driving, DUI and safety statistics.
"Statistics show that there is a strong relationship between age and driving behavior," a news release stated. "It is generally acknowledged that the greatest risk of traffic crashes is among teenage drivers."
Regardless of gender, drivers ages 16 to 19 have the highest average annual crash and traffic violation rates of any other age group, the release states.
The free workshop, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., will be held at the community center, 6300 Fountain Square Drive, in Citrus Heights. To register for the event, contact Sgt. Jason Russo at 916-727-5578. Funding for the workshop comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
