Person Injured in Citrus Heights House Fires

Fire officials say the civilian was trying to fight the fire, which had extended into two local homes.

The following is a news release from the Sacramento Metro Fire District: 


At approximately 4:30 [Monday] afternoon, Metro Fire crews responded to a house fire in the 6900 block of Escallonia Way in the City Citrus Heights. At the time the fire was discovered there was a family with small children in one of the homes and they quickly self-evacuated.  When crews arrived they found heavy fire between two homes involving a shed, with extension into both houses. Crews immediately entered both homes to make sure everyone was out while simultaneously attacking the fire. 

 

Twenty-six firefighters engaged in fire attack.  Due to quick actions of these firefighters, much of the home owners personal contents were saved. It is estimated that the loss was around $150.000 for both homes however, through the firefighters efforts they saved estimated to be $600.000.

Unfortunately there was 1 burn injury suffered by a civilian attempting to fight this fire.  There were no firefighter injuries to report.

Metro Fire’s, Fire Investigation Unit was called to the scene to look at the origin and cause of the fire.  At this time the fire is under investigation.
