Body Found in American River is Missing Citrus Heights Resident

The body was found near the Sunrise Boulevard river boat ramp in Fair Oaks Friday morning.

A body found in the American River Friday morning is that of a missing Citrus Heights resident. 

The body of a male was found near the river entrance at Sunrise Boulevard in Fair Oaks around 9:30 a.m., according to the Citrus Heights Police Department. 

Investigators have confirmed that the body is a missing Citrus Heights resident, but have not released the name, pending notification of next of kin.

Around 9:15 p.m. Aug. 29, the Citrus Heights Police Department responded to a report of a missing adult male, who was last seen by family members around 5 p.m. that day. The man's vehicle was located on an access road near the American River in Rancho Cordova and a search ensued. 

An extensive search of the American River trails into the early morning led to no results, according to police. During the second search the following day, Aug. 30, the deceased body was found. 

There is no evidence of foul play but an autopsy is pending by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, police report.
