A Citrus Heights Police officer suffered minor injuries after a suspect fled from police Saturday and crashed into a patrol car during a pursuit.
Around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, police located a stolen vehicle near Greenback and Van Maren lanes, driven by 27-year-old Corey Lather of Sacramento.
Lather allegedly fled from police in the stolen vehicle and police followed him onto Mariposa Avenue as he continued onto Challis Court, a cul-de-sac where was forced to turn his vehicle around. In his escape attempt, Lather rammed a pursuing police vehicle, police report.The officer sustained minor injuries; Lather was not injured. He was taken into custody.
Lather was booked on suspicion of taking a vehicle without owner consent, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, possession of stolen property, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and probation violation, according to Citrus Heights police.
Lather has been convicted of felony vehicle theft seven times and felony reckless driving four times. At the time of arrest he was on Post Release Community Supervision, or PRCS, according to police.
