Suspected Jewel Thief Arrested on Sayonara Drive

The suspect was found to be in possession of jewelry and other stolen items were found nearby, according to Citrus Heights Police.

Citrus Heights Police Department officials believe they have apprehended a man responsible for an early Wednesday morning burglary along with several thefts over the past few weeks.

At approximately 2:34 a.m. Wednesday, police came into contact with Citrus Heights resident Scott Alan James, 42, walking along the 7800 block of Sayonara Drive. According to police, James was found to be in possession of jewelry that they believe did not belong to James. A further investigation of the surrounding area led to the discovery of a flat screen television and other property, according to police.

According to police, the property was found to belong to a resident in the 6600 block of Rinconada Dr. Police officials say that residence had been broken into and the property was stolen while the residents slept.

Detectives from the Investigations Division responded to assist. The investigation revealed the suspect had been involved in several other burglaries and auto thefts in the past few weeks, according to a police statement. 

James was booked at Sacramento County Jail for multiple charges of burglary and autotheft.
