Update: Suspect Arrested in Hit-and-Run of Motorcyclist

The victim is in critical condition at a local hospital.

A 30-year-old Shasta Lake resident has been arrested on suspicion that he hit a motorcyclist in Citrus Heights Monday and then fled the scene, police announced.

Adam McGue is suspected of being the driver of a van that hit a 23-year-old North Highlands man on Greenback Lane Monday.

"It appears an [eastbound] vehicle changed lanes into the path of a van," the Citrus Heights Police Department said in a press release. "The van took evasive action and went into the [westbound] lanes of Greenback into the path of the motorcycle, which struck the van. The van then fled the scene."

Police say they found the van abandoned in a parking lot near Sunrise Boulevard and Sun Hill Drive. Authorities are looking for witnesses to the crash, including a landscaping truck pulling a trailer, which was headed east on Greenback at the time of the accident but wasn't involved.

The motorcylist hit in the incident is in critical condition.
