Rep. Ami Bera (D-Elk Grove) will co-host a federal budget workshop with the Concord Coalition at the AT&T Auditorium, 2700 Watt Ave., in Sacramento from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday (April 29).
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Community members are expected to be encouraged to propose their own ideas in how to deal with the nation’s current budget woes.
Attendees will work in small groups to simulate federal budget negotiations. And, will review ideas from Bera about how they can address debt issues and share their own budget priorities.
In a press release, Bera officials said the newly elected Congressman will be ready to hear solutions to help create a package of policies he will then recommend to Congress to get "America’s fiscal house in order."
According to information from its website, the nationwide Concord Coalition is a non-partisan, grassroots organization advocating "generationally responsible fiscal policy." Founded in 1992, it was formed by the late Sen. Paul Tsongas (D-Mass.), late former Sen. Warren Rudman (R-N.H.), and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Peter Peterson. Former Senator Sam Nunn (D-GA) serves as co-chair.
