Pro Golfer From Citrus Heights Contracts Malaria During Asian Tour

Natalie Gulbis earned four varsity letters as the No. 1 golfer on the boys' team at Granite Bay High School.

 

LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis, who grew up in Citrus Heights, has pulled out of the Founders Cup after contracting Malaria during a tour of Asia. According to the Sacramento Bee:

The LPGA Tour and the International Management Group said Wednesday that Gulbis is being treated at home in Las Vegas and is expected to be at full strength in three weeks.

Gulbis, who attended Granite Bay High School, "earned four varsity letters as the No. 1 golfer on the boys' team... Won the U.S. High School Championship in 1999 by 21 shots" and was a high school All-American in 1998-99, according to the University of Arizona website.
