Woman Suspected of Hitting & Killing 6-Year-Old Boy Pleads No Contest

Tresa Bales-Sterba is accused of hitting two brothers while they were walking to school in Citrus Heights last year. She was allegedly under the influence of multiple drugs.

An Orangevale woman accused of hitting two Citrus Heights brothers — one of whom died months later — has pled no contest to gross manslaughter while intoxicated.
Tresa Bales-Sterba, (erroneously identified earlier as Teresa), 52, was allegedly driving under the influence of multiple drugs on Oct. 5, 2012, when she hit two boys walking to school. One of the brothers — 6-year-old Henry Perez-Rocha — passed away in January.
Bales-Sterba pled no contest also to felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs with injury, and all allegations of personally inflicting great bodily injury and causing bodily injury, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney's office.
She could face up to 15 years in prison.
Her sentencing is set for 8:30 a.m. July 15.
